Joy Curtis
Night Hike and Ocean Grandma
Five Performances
During the opening reception of Joy Curtis’s sculpture show “Night Hike and Ocean Grandma” performers activated Curtis’s wearable fabric works. New activations by different performers debuted each Saturday afternoon throughout the run of the show.
Performers included: Jason Andrew, Dan Bainbridge, Olympe Gautier, Julia Gleich, Aden Hardin, Erin Lee Jones, Tammy Kerner, Millie Kapp, Michael Mahalchick, and Lizzie Scott.
Performance One: April 13, 2024 (opening reception)
Olympe Gautier, Aden Hardin, and Lizzie Scott
Performance Two: April 27, 2024
Michael Mahalchick
“… recent performance by Michael Mahalchick “wearing” her soft sculptures at the gallery was a perfect complement to the work. Fans of Kafka would immediately recognize the Metamorphosis that occurred during the event, and the strange appendages of Curtis’s art makes the transformation almost appealing….” —Hrag Vartanian, Hyperallergic
