The floating, dotted Magic Hands in Alex Dodge’s new screenprint are poised as if enacting a trick or shuffling a deck of cards.  Nodding towards associations of gloved performers and the misdirecting art of magic, they weave a nostalgic tapestry, drawing from Dodge’s childhood memories populated by pop culture icons. The artwork subtly invites reflections on Adam Smith’s “Invisible Hand” theory, embedding a critical commentary on the unseen guiding forces of capitalism.
